REMEMBRANCE

MEMORIAL DAY, 2010

Just a few we should not forget:

Bob Nassau, James Madison High School classmate. Winner of a four year Harvard scholarship.
Shot down returning from a mission over the Mediterranean. A bronze plaque at the American Cemetery in Tunisia his only marker.

Herbert Lerner. Eight Air Force. Next-door-neighbor. Son of my mother's high school class mate. Now buried at the American Cemetery, Cambridge England.

Sol Tyson. High School class mate. Infantryman. Killed in the Battle of the Bulge. Now buried at the American Cemetery in Belgium.

Roger Emerson. Dartmouth '46 classmate. US Mountain Troops. Killed by "friendly fire" in the Aleutians. Buried stateside.

Kipling said it best:

"Lord God of Hosts
Be with us yet
Lest we forget.
Lest we forget."
